Continuing Education: Shoulder Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy shoulder rehabilitationPhysiotherapy for Shoulder Rehabilitation

Recently, I flew to Melbourne to attend a Lyn Watson Shoulder course. Lyn Watson is a physiotherapist who specialists in shoulder rehabilitation and has worked with numerous sporting clubs and athletes, and deals with problematic or complex shoulder injuries. Lyn has a team of physiotherapists working with her who also specialise in shoulders. Lyn works closely with radiologists and orthopedic surgeons which gives her the complete team needed to manage difficult cases.

The course ran over two days and focused heavily on anatomy and assessments of shoulder and scapula movements and dysfunctions. I gained extensive knowledge of more complex shoulder injuries and how to accurately identify these injuries and then manage effectively. I feel this course is a must for any physio wanting to further their knowledge of the notoriously difficult area of the body. I feel far more confident in assessing and identifying shoulder injuries and dysfunctions and have a far great understanding of shoulder and scapula kinematics.

I recently had a long standing shoulder injury, as well as being in denial over a wide range ongoing injuries from 22 years’ service in the Australian Defence Force.

I finally decided to do something about it, and I am absolutely amazed what a difference the ‘non- intrusive’ treatment applied by Craig and the team has made. Very flexible and professional in terms of treatment times and programs, as well being non-judgmental and encouraging in terms exercises hindered by a very busy and stressful work period.

It is certainly my view that this treatment, has saved me a significant amount ongoing discomfort, pain and eventually surgery. Most importantly the golf swing is coming back, as well as the motivation to get out there. The only downside is that I now need to look for another excuse for all those lost balls.

I highly recommend this team of professionals, and the pricing profile is very competitive given the excellent location of the practice in the heart of the Canberra CBD.
