Back To School – FREE foot assessment and shoe recommendation

Update: Our special offer is now over, but you can have your child’s feet checked at any time by our podiatrist, Cecilia Brennan. It is that time of year again when we start thinking about getting new school shoes for our children. Nonetheless, when we see children at Sport & Spinal Physio for a particular injury, I am surprised at how many shoes simply do not match the foot type of the child.

Get it Right in the Early Years

It is so important during the growing years that we allow our children to attain the correct lower limb alignment or otherwise the consequences can be detrimental on later on down the track. There can be many reasons why we have a poor lower limb alignment, but one of the most common is poor structural alignment of our feet. If this poor alignment of our feet is not corrected or mitigated with correct footwear in mild cases or even orthotics for moderate to severe cases, then we open ourselves up to suffering all sorts of injuries in adulthood. Typical injuries attributed to poor foot alignment include bunions, plantar fasciitis, knee osteoarthritis and hip osteoarthritis. If you have the right shoes for your child you are making a good start. Your child may get away with it at the moment simply because they are young and our structures are more resilient, but once we reach adulthood we tend not to tolerate abnormal stress on our bodies and structures break down and become painful.

So my message: “Look after your children’s feet NOW and help them attain correct lower limb alignment to avoid problems down the track”
