FAQ’s Group Classes
1.What do I do if I’m new to group classes or returning after a break?
You will need to book an initial assessment to ensure you are ready to start the term and for your physiotherapist to discuss any current or old injuries. The physiotherapist may include the use of an ultrasound machine to aide in teaching you to activate your core muscles. The physiotherapist will run through any exercises you may need to know before the first class begins. This initial assessment is a requirement for you to be able to claim your participation in our classes from your health fund.

2.What do I do if I’m currently a Matwork client but want to try Reformer classes?
You will need to book an appointment to prepare you for the reformer class.
- Appointments Monday to Friday between 10:00am and 3:00pm in Gungahlin or City are complimentary
- Appointments outside these hours will cost $98.00 if you would like to check if this is claimable from your health fund the item code is #500.
3.How do I know what class level I should be in?
Levels 1 – 2 classes are recommended for either a complete beginner or participants who have attended a term or two of reformer or matwork previously (whether here at Sport and Spinal Physiotherapy or elsewhere).
Levels 2 – 3 classes are recommended for participants who have completed at least two terms of clinical classes at Sport and Spinal Physiotherapy. Participants should have a solid foundation and grounding in our classes and understand the key principles well.
All levels: Open to all levels.
4.Will I have the same instructor for every class?
Generally, you will have the same therapist for each class however your therapist may need to be substituted at short notice. We endeavor to keep our clients informed and up to date if any changes happen. Please note, a class will not run if there is only one person booked in the term.
5.What happens I can’t make or miss my class?
If you can’t make or miss a class, please let us know as soon as possible. When you call please talk to our friendly receptionists to organise a suitable time for a catch-up class. If you don’t let us know in advance you will forfeit the payment and you won’t be able book a catch-up class.
If you book and pay for a term of our group classes but are unable to continue, refunds will only be given if you supply a GP medical certificate stating that you are not medically fit to undertake the remaining sessions and for the following 6 months.
6.What happens if my class is cancelled?
If a class is cancelled, we will try our best to find a therapist to cover the class however sometimes this is not possible. If we can’t find a replacement therapist, you can organise a catch-up class on another day or receive a refund for that class.
7.How do I claim my private health fund rebate?
If you are paying for a block you can claim your rebate at the end of the class term. Your final itemised tax invoice will indicate the dates of attendance for each class. This will be sent out via email at the end of the term. If you would like to check if this is claimable from your health fund the item code is #561. If you are attending our group classes on a casual basis and you have private health, our receptionist’s will process the health fund rebate immediately using your health fund card at the time of payment.
